Our Mid and Early Career Teachers are such a precious resource...full of energy, creativity, passion and talent...yet we lose a third of them in the first 5 years of their teaching career. *

We have to change this!

Coaching provides high levels of support (as well as challenge) for our early teachers to explore their unique paths - and

enjoy learning about themselves as they travel onwards in their careers.

I was so excited when I qualified as a teacher! 

I had worked in a school for several years as a teaching assistant, so I thought I was well aware and prepared for the workload and other challenges which I knew I would face as a teacher. 

By the end of the my first year as an NQT,

I was exhausted - but so proud of my pupils and what we had achieved together. 

During my second year, I became more overwhelmed and I felt expectations of me became higher. 

I started to resent the lack of balance in my life and just couldn't see teaching as a long-term career. 

I was so lucky that the school leadership team value their staff's wellbeing and gave me the opportunity to work with Sue as a coach (and at times, she stepped into a mentoring role as well). 

Sue helped me gain perspective, confidence and work out ways to feel more resilient and commit to self care and balance in my life. At first I felt quite guilty focusing on me, but I can see now that I would never have stayed in teaching if I hadn't. I'm so grateful to the school and to my coach, I'm definitely  staying in teaching for the long-term!
